#FensterFreitag: I usually prefer to show one #window only, but with #Hundertwasser, it's impossible to pick one because almost every window is unique!

This is the "Green Citadel" (#GrüneZitadelle) in #Magdeburg, one of Hundertwasser's last projects. I love this #building, it's a great addition to the city, right next to the cathedral. It houses flats, a hotel, cafés and restaurants, small shops, and a great little theatre. It also features two beautiful courtyards (one with a fountain), and a public toilet that's also all Hundertwasser, including a fish tank. 😂 It looks a bit dreary in winter without the lush greens that are integral to Hundertwasser's design and philosophy. Expect more snaps later in the year to see all its #colourful glory!

Another local beauty, this time the #Brick #Gothic castle #church of #Wolmirstedt, built in 1480. Apparently the most southern example of northern #BrickGothic, huh. It's all humble red bricks and a plain door, but when you look up - wow!

"Typ Dresden", also typische "Klötzchenbauweise".

In Mexiko wurde eine Schule der "Canadian School" gebaut, die das Prädikat "GRÜN" tatsächlich verdient.

Warum wird eine solche Architektur nicht bei uns (nicht nur in Dresden) umgesetzt?

(Einziges Argument: Die Schule(n) in Dresden braucht Platz für sehr viel mehr Schüler*innen.)

Was der Architekt des Frankfurter House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) wollte: Einen ordentlichen Eingangsbereich ohne lästige Fahrräder. Deswegen wurden der Legende nach die Fahrradständer in die Tiefgarage verbannt.

Was er bekam: Fahrräder vor dem Eingang. Jetzt eben unstrukturiert.

Tipp: Plane nicht fürs ordentliche Reißbrett, sondern für Menschen und deren Bedürfnisse.
