#Honda talk!
Took my #Element in to get an oil change today, and to check the brakes.
I thought I'd had the front brakes done last year and only the back brakes needed to be done, so that's what I did, and then I realized... that was my other car, the #Civic that I don't have anymore. Oops.
Welp, I'm still gonna have to get the E's front brakes done in a couple of months. They're not critical yet. The new back brakes are great, though! They were getting kind of scrapey-sounding. Ew.
Met another Element owner there who had had their car for 15 years! We are a loyal bunch.
Also saw a gorgeous #Ridgeline on the lot that I absolutely can't afford. Almost $50,000 for a truck? Nope. Not unless I play and win the lottery. But still. Yum.
Next project: doing some small things to the 2003 #CRV that I gave to my friend in 2020 when he needed a car (after a bad divorce). He's not a car guy; he's kind of let it go to shit. So I took my code reader to it last week and figured out what was going on, and I'm trying to give him a path forward to keep the car running.
Having the E in the shop today meant I got to drive my mom's #Crosstour today. I love that car! It is so luxe. We went out to the lake for a bit and sat and read books. I'm going to put Mom on invite every time we go, because she really enjoyed it out there.
To balance all this ICE love out, normally I drive fewer than 10 miles a week (when I am not in farm season), and I do own an electric cargo trike that I use a lot. I understand that the carbon footprint of a new vehicle is significant, so my goal is to keep the things I have now running well and as long as possible, and help my friends and family do the same. I will still lust after certain cars -- even though I will probably never own or even test-drive them.
If ever there is a electric engine option for the E as a mod, I will be looking into it. I thought about doing that to my 1993 #Accord 15+ years ago, but did not have the resources to drive it to the West Coast for that mod.
Gee. Ya think I kinda like Hondas?
