I remember when the internet didn't exist. It could cease to exist at some point in the future, especially as society falls apart. Is anyone preparing for that future?

What will happen if the internet implodes or stops being available to any but an elite group?

I mean, not only is the internet as we know it a house of cards but a lot of places only have it because wooden poles are out there holding up wires. It's not like nothing could go wrong.
