Versuche 1 Laptop zu kaufen, mit Linux "ab Werk" weil mein Yoga Slim passend zur Klausur die Grätsche macht. Tuxedo scheint ne gute Wahl zu sein und nu hab ich schon drei mal ein Gerät mit den von mir gewünschten Specs konfiguriert und trau mich trotzdem nicht zu bestellen weil ich von PCs ja eigentlich keine Ahnung hab und die restlichen Daten des Geräts nicht auswerten kann haha ich bin sooo unsicher

So, auf meinem schnuckeligen 14" 4K #Matebook von 2020 (glaub ich...) läuft jetzt auch ein verschlüsseltes #tuxedoos - bis auf den Fingerabdrucksensor im Powerbutton funzte alles auf Anhieb - keine Ahnung, ob ich mir die Mühe mache, da nachzuhaken, nicht-biometrische Anmeldung ziehe ich eh vor.

Ich versuche einen SMB Share via fstab unter #tuxedoos einzubinden. Das Laufwerk ist bereits unter Remote zu erreichen und ich kann auch damit arbeiten, aber in KeepassXC kann ich nur über das direkte Öffnen der Datei darauf zugreifen, aber nicht über "open Database" da dort die Remote Option nicht erscheint.
Also wollte ich das mittels fstab Eintrag lösen

Heute haben wir bei TUXEDO ein neues ISO-Image und eine neue WebFAI-Installation freigegeben.

Das alleine ist nicht unbedingt eine News wert.

Allerdings geht mit dieser Veröffentlichung ein Umstieg auf unsere neuen Quellen für KDE-Software einher.

Wir gehen damit weg von KDE neon und hin zu Ubuntu 25.04 „Plucky Puffin“ und begeben uns damit einen kleinen Schritt näher hin zur Debian-Paketierung.

Die neue Basis wird einen saubereren Upgrade-Pfad und stabilere Upgrades ermöglichen.

Just a reminder to why corporate GNU/Linux distros are a bad idea. This is an older video by @jay that I still think is very relevant. We should always support FOSS, especially community made distros. Corporate decisions, like Red Hat's shift with CentOS Stream, often demonstrate how business priorities can compromise open-source principles and community autonomy. That is why I won't use Ubuntu, Fedora, Pop_OS!, Tuxedo OS, or any other corporate backed distro. Now, Intel is just ending Clear Linux OS, further highlighting this vulnerability.

Tuxedo OS hat die Quellen für KDE umgestellt. Eben gerade im Terminal durchgeführt und dem Paketmanager bei der Arbeit zugesehen. Eine Wand aus Text. Nach dem Neustart sieht alles aus wie vorher.
So soll ein Upgrade sein - schmerzlos.

#TuxedoOS hat direkt den #displaylink Treiber im Repository, und nach Installation und Reboot geht direkt meine Lenovo USB-C Dock von der Arbeit. Sogar mit der richtigen 4k Auflösung und 100Hz.

Das war aber einfach.

Mir ist aufgefallen, das bei #TuxedoOS das Benutzer Passwort nicht mit dem #luks2 Passwort synchronisiert wird.

z.B. user Passwort in KDE ändern oder einen neuen benutzer anlegen. Ich kann dennoch die Verschlüsselung nur mit dem initialen Passwort, bei der Installation aufschließen.

Offenbar gibt es auch keine Möglichkeit per GUI ein Passwort hinzuzufügen. Sehe nur die Möglichkeit mit cryptsetup auf Konsole zu arbeiten.

Frage zu #TuxedoOs @tuxedocomputers kann man bei einem luks vollverschlüsseltes system, eine Über-Intestallation machen, ohne seine Home Verzeichnisse Daten zu verlieren?!? Und ohne manuelle Schritte?

Es wir auch der #Calamares installer verwendet, oder? Der kann das nicht, stimmts?

The number of mainstream Debian-based #Linux disros with KDE 6 that aren't Ubuntu is remarkably small. Enter @tuxedocomputers #TuxedoOS. Even though it's optimized for their hardware, it runs well on two of my old computers - quite a bit faster than my current favorite, #Fedora based Ultramarine Linux. I'm guessing its due to Fedora's use of SELinux, but I'm no expert.

Looks like another distro hop might be coming.

I assumed that the near constant crashes of Dogma, my 2014 iMac, were caused by a graphics failure, but now I suspect overheating, as the crashes ceased after installing mbpfan.

However a recent update from #UltramarineLinux has left Dogma in an unbootable state, so I’ve decided to try out a Debian-based distro for a step back from the bleeding edge.

I still want KDE 6, so that means Dogma’s trying out #TuxedoOS.

The install experience has been fantastic.

For a change, I have a technical question. Any #linux #steam wizards among us?

Situation: I have switched from #debian to #tuxedoOS and am trying to reimport my backed up steam files (yes, I can redownload them with 1 100th the speed). I made 13 backups for this purpose.

Problem: 3(!) games were able to be reimported through steams "restore game backup" feature. Counterstrike kind of redownloaded itself since a library was missing. All others say "wrong platform".

Any ideas whats wrong?

Werde wohl #TuxedoOs auf meinem neuen Rechner installieren. Jetzt muss nur noch die Hardware ausgesucht und bestellt werden.
