So either the waiter at breakfast this morning was flirting with me or he simply forgot to give me the bill for my food. My friend got a bill and I didn’t but I never really sensed overt flirting from him. Oh well, I got a free meal out of it regardless!

Stand up for trans rights 🏳️‍⚧️

Evening sisters, I thought I'd drop this link in as I've just donated. The bigotry of the Supreme Court's decision and the harm to us was obvious, but the more I learn about it the more I realise how stunningly incompetent the twisting of the legal process that took place was. A real travesty. Everything from gratuitously misrepresenting the intentions of those who wrote the Equalities and GRAs, to the conservative Christian, anti-LGBTQ record of the lead judge, to the total exclusion of trans voices and to the unbelievable lack of understanding of what a mess they have made of several gender-related acts. And now translating the decision into real implications lies in the hands of the EHRC which has already been turned into a transphobic shitshow

The silver lining may be that a line has been crossed. I have been a little impressed by trans support among many cis people as a result of this. Sadly, it's going to take a lot more to force Labour to remedy the situation. Love to you all. We'll get through this. It's just going to take time. so, hi to anyone and anything who reads this.
i came from tumblr after losing many social connections with other transfeminine beings due to platform's transmisogyny and transmisogynoir.
too many friends and acquaintances were banned or harassed out of there for me to stay, so i said goodbye to my banlist, followers, feed, hashtags, bookmarks, fiters and left in a search of a better place.
that's how i ended up here, with hope for more tolerant and accepting experience

Considering how conservative (small c) and narrow minded many parts of Britain can be, particularly rural areas, when I'm feeling isolated I remind myself of my good fortune in at least living in Wales and in particular, in Llangollen

There's a difference between transitory party political tides and enduring culture. In all likelihood the Welsh, faced with betrayal by a Labour Party that chases right wing nationalism rather than make any effort to lead leftwards, will elect Far Right councillors from Reform at the upcoming local elections. What is really happening is that the Left has been betrayed by Labour in everything from support for Israel, pandering to TERFs, abandoning support for the sick and disabled, continuation of many past Tory policies and sucking up to Trump, while the Right has radicalised further, is ever more anti-immigrant and prefers real fascists to wannabe fascists. So the left won't vote and the right will vote Fascist. Even in Wales

But imho, culturally and on a personal level, despite often holding just as obnoxious views regarding outsiders and the othered, the Welsh take a less arrogant approach to their bigotry. They are more philosophical than the English and having a history of knowing what arseholes the English can be, tend not to follow them too far down that path. And they are more aware that life is strange, people are strange, everyone's their own kind of character and that in the end.. that's a good thing. And if it's not, it's best to live with it anyway

But rural areas, rural Wales being no exception, are often even more conservative, so Llan is all the more exceptional for being quite tolerant and diverse in its little way

I am particularly proud that one of our main tourist attractions, aside from the castle, the steam railway, and the totally mind-blowing natural beauty, is a local story of sapphic love that survived scandal, endured and then thrived, once the two Irish Ponsonby 'sisters' found refuge here in Llan, becoming celebrities in their own right

Their home, which began life as a large stone cottage, took on a life of its own in their lifetime in the early 19th century and flourished as an architecturaly bizarre collection of gothic and mock Tudor addons

And now..it's one of the most eye-catching attractions in town. In this part of Wales even. Which would not have happened had pettiness been allowed to trounce love. Plenty of towns around that chose that path too, of course. No one knows them. Neither do I

:zerotwo_learn: It's an unfortunately short video this time, but I hope this helps anyone confused about what's going on. The Elder Scrolls has a lot of lore that affects the stories that play out in the games, but it can be hard to track it down in an easy-to-understand form. The books tend to be all over the place, picked up out of order, or, as is the case for a lot of us, just something we don't really engage with while we're playing :bugcat_nod:
