The #Trump / #SteveWitkoff proposal makes ZERO mention of the Ukrainian children abducted by Russia nor does it concern itself with #POWs.

The #Trump / #SteveWitkoff proposal gives no details on how or with what moneys #Ukraine will be compensated & reconstructed.
All it says is, “Ukraine to be fully reconstructed & compensated financially.”

The #US proposal completely & immediately lifts #sanctions imposed on #Russia since 2014. And it states that the US & Russia will begin an economic relationship “on energy & other industrial sectors.”

The #Trump / #SteveWitkoff proposal provides US de jure recognition of Russian control of Crimea, Luhansk as well as parts of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, & Kherson.

The #Ukraine / #Europe proposal states, “Territorial issues will be discussed & resolved after a full and unconditional ceasefire.”

The #Trump / #SteveWitkoff proposal requires that Ukraine not seek #NATO membership [a long demand of Putin’s]

The #Ukraine / #Europe proposal states, “Ukraine receives robust security guarantees including from the US (Article 5-like agreement), while there is no consensus among Allies on NATO membership.”

As you can see, the two proposals differ remarkably from each other. The #Trump / #SteveWitkoff proposal offers no explicit guarantee of #security from the #US, only European states & “willing non-European states”

The #Ukraine / #Europe proposal states, “Ceasefire monitoring, led by the US & supported by third countries.”

The first text reflects the proposals communicated by #Trump's envoy #SteveWitkoff to European ofcls in Paris that were in turn passed to #Ukraine, acc/to sources close to the talks. #US Secy of #State #MarcoRubio described the proposals as a "broad framework" to identify differences between the sides.

The second text emerged a week later from talks between Ukrainian & European ofcls in London & has been given to the American side, the sources said.

Lower-level diplomats from #Britain, #France, #Germany, #Ukraine, & the #UnitedStates still gathered for technical talks. But the absence of #MarcoRubio or #SteveWitkoff, #Trump’s chief negotiator w/ #Russia, renewed fears that Ukraine & #Europe were being marginalized [abandoned] as the #Trump admin seemed to be working primarily w/Russia.
