Largely, gone are the days of hardware samplers that can play chromatically & polyphonically using real multisamples that include seamless loop points, & cross fading. Samplers that can still do that are almost exclusively found in software plugins. Both Soundfonts (sf2) and SFZ are open formats with many open (as well as commercial) tools and plugins. As old as they both are, they are not going extinct.2. Both support high quality. It's an ambient-ish, avant-garde, ethereal, industrial-ish but still enjoyable type of odd record, at least to me. You gotta remember, I like Coil. It reminds me of Coil.
