Over 30 years ago, I found this wooden plate at a second hand store and drew this on it with pencil crayons and marker. I decided to bring it out to try it as a table top for a an upcycle to a defunct stool- it wasn’t quite right but I left it.
Two days ago I didn’t move it out of the rain.
Sigh- it’s now peeling.
PSA- if leaving stuff outside- and you don’t want it to transition to its next life , preserve it, seal it…

Das "#Hexenhaus" im #WörlitzerPark passt heute auch gut zum #FootpathFriday. Das Häuschen wird auch #Wurzelhaus oder #Borkenhäuschen genannt. Fürst Franz von Anhalt-Dessau hat es angeblich im Rahmen der damaligen Südseebegeisterung als privates Badehäuschen errichten lassen. Bei der aufwendigen Restaurierung 2021 wurde aber entdeckt, dass das Häuschen (oder zumindest Teile davon) erst 1817 erbaut wurde (da ist der Fürst gestorben). // The "witch house" in #Wörlitz #Park is a good fit for #FootpathFriday too. It is also called "bark house" or "root house". It is said that Duke Franz of Anhalt-Dessau had the hut built as a private bathhouse during a Polynesia craze. However, when the hut was restored in 2021, conservators discovered that parts of it were built in 1817, the year the Duke died.

A charmingly rustic Borkenhäuschen (bark house) in Oranienbaum-Wörlitz, Germany, captured on a slightly overcast day. The small, wooden structure is fashioned from gnarled logs and branches, giving it a fairy-tale or witch-house aesthetic. A dirt path, scattered with autumn leaves, leads up to its central arched entrance. Two small, rustic benches made of stone and moss sit on either side of the entrance. The house is nestled amongst dense green trees and foliage, with dappled light filtering through the leaves above, enhancing its whimsical and secluded feel.
