True #software #reuse story from someone who's been #programming forty years now. (Today was not the first time this has happened.)

You look at brilliant piece of #coding you wrote. You think, "I need something kinda like that, but a little different." You copy and paste even though you shouldn't, because you want it done fast and are being lazy.

After spending some time writing over your "time-saving" copy-paste, you look at the result and see that it is actually interchangeable with the original.

Lesson: If copying and pasting would save you a significant amount of typing time, you can probably re-use it with a few modifications that might make it easier to re-use next time.

I did some changes to my wife's computer and there was no more room for the old Intel 2200 PCIe wireless card, but there was an M.2 slot still available. I've bought an M.2 M-key to A/E-key adapter plus a bracket and two high-gain antennas from Fenvi, and plopped in an Intel AC 9260 card I had salvaged from a dead laptop. So now she's got a better wireless card plus BT 4.0 support.

Total price: 9,81€ including shipping.

This is possible without permenant modification to the unit, or special tools. The one slightly esoteric requirement is a VGA to IDC cable, which can be found online for around $10, or probably hanging on a dusty shelf at a used electronics store for pennies.
