@gdsherif Much appreciated! Yes, it would be wonderful if there could be a communal neighbourhood approach, but that wouldn't be a possibility where we currently are. There is an interesting neighbourhood initiative in Toronto called Pocket Change that tries to leverage collective knowledge and purchasing power. Link below! #pocketchange

Pocket Change ProjectPocket Change ProjectWe are a community group in The Pocket of East Toronto working together to reduce our carbon footprints. We aim to shift to sustainable transportation options and convert our houses so as to live sustainably, without reliance on fossil fuels, so the Pocket can become a “net zero” or carbon neutral community.

We have been considering #solar panels at our home and I've been reading a bit more on the embedded #carbon to get a sense of the ERoEI ratio (energy return over energy invested). I found a really interesting paper written by some people a couple of hours to the north of us in #Ontario, #Canada that I'll link to below. I'd love for their conclusions to be incorrect and would be happy to read anything to the contrary. Thoughts anyone?

I've just discovered Victoria has a community battery grant scheme, applications now closed, building should start soonish. Hopefully it will benefit everyone because it will mean less need for generating plant.
I don't care about the politics, I just want firmed renewables.

#Australia's "Federal Labor has confirmed it will spend $2.3bn to slash the cost of household #batteries by 30%, as part of a dual cost-of-living and climate action pitch to voters.

The discount will be delivered by expanding the small-scale #RenewableEnergy scheme, which has been subsidising renewable energy equipment for more than a decade."
