This will be a horrible scenario for Philadelphia:

"Those and other cuts totaling 45% of SEPTA service would be implemented in two phases, starting this fall — if the Pennsylvania legislature doesn’t pass Gov. Josh Shapiro’s latest proposal to increase state aid for mass transit systems."

The Philadelphia Inquirer · SEPTA plans to cut service on dozens of routes and may lay off staff amid funding crisisBy Thomas Fitzgerald

If you live in Southeastern Pennsylvania, SEPTA is planning on reducing service, based on the lack of funding, starting in August. There will also be a fare increase.

"Hearings on the operating budget are scheduled for May 19 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at SEPTA’s headquarters, as well as on May 20 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Hearings on the capital portion of the budget are scheduled for May 21 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m."

No regional rail after 9:00 pm.

Yes, this is the beginning of protracted negotiations, but SEPTA has been underfunded for a very long time.

The Philadelphia Inquirer · Is my bus route getting cut? A quick guide to what SEPTA’s proposed changes could mean for youBy Thomas Fitzgerald

Be wary of the free dirt from the City of Philadelphia. Use it for backfill not gardening.

Used it few yrs back and lost over half my garden and still fighting to save a big tree. Emailed the county agent for advice. They said the free dirt often contains Roundup which caused my issues. Srsly. Caveat emptor.

@sennoma @Nickiquote Had a graphic designer friend whip up a double sided sign for the #Philly #HandsOff rally.

Followup: I'm not a good estimator of crowd sizes, but I'd guess 20-25,000 people were there on Independence Mall. Anecdotally, I talked to someone who tried to get on the Chestnut Hill West train at its fourth station and it was already too full to take on more passengers.
