The OSU open source lab is one of those lynchpins for many Projects in FOSS.
Even small projects like @librecast depend on those servers. To be clear we don't host our project infrastructure with them.
But when we do a Librecast release it gets tested on Debian infrastructure to package it for #Debian and #Guix. Which OSUOSL is a part of.
So if you can spare some cash for this lab, please do so.
Our ecosystem depends on this.

Oregon State University Open Source Lab will shut down this year if funding is not met.
Among countless other open source projects, OSL supports Rocky Linux by hosting our ppc64le and s390x build environments.
Please consider donating to #OSUOSL. Talk to your organizations about the open source software they depend on that in turn depends on OSL, and ask them to consider donating.
@osuosl has been around for 22 years. They kindly host our gitlab for 6 months now, and provide important services for more than 150 other free and open source software communities such as @alpinelinux, @chimera , @debian, @fdroidorg, @gentoo, @gnome, @LineageOS, #ReplicantOS, @torproject. Now their future is in jeopardy 
We usually don't ask this, but please boost for reach, this is important infrastructure for so many FLOSS projects! 
OSL has been a sponsor of OFTC for a very long time, and they need help.
OFTC and many other projects sincerely appreciate their crucial support over the years. We know that the open source ecosystem would not be thriving today if it were not for their work and contributions.

Oregon State University | Open Source Lab ( #OSUOSL) is in jeopardy of shutting down this year because of budget cuts. OSUOSL has been vital to the functioning of OSGeo (Open Source Geospatial Foundation) https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/sac/2025-April/016732.html Projects under #OSGeo are #PostGIS, pgRouting, #QGIS GeoServer, GDAL, GEOS and others which are foundational software for the GIS community both in Open Source arena and others. If you know any corporations willing to support OSUOSL, please pass the message along.
The work of @osuosl is at risk as US academic funding faces historic challenges. The Lab hosts infra for over 1000 #FOSS projects, and uses the opportunity to train students in critical #DevOps skills. Nothing comes close to the value that OSL provides the global #OpenSource community.

A belated #introduction post, hello and pleased to meet you. I am Ken, (he, him, his except on special occasions), and I currently work at keeping a #university #research #computing center online and computing. Previously, I was the head #developer at the OSU Open Source Lab, (#osuosl, go #foss!), and before that more #development and #sysadmin stuff, ad nauseum.
When not babysitting #computers, I am a #blacksmith, #woodworker, general #maker of things artistic and utilitarian. I do a bit of #writing, a bit of #art, a bit of #kink, and a fair amount of #baking. Also there are #ducks all over the place here, but those are mostly not my fault.
I came to mastodon from the bird site, like so many, and have found the philosophy and practice here so much more to my open source, #anarchist, #anticapitalist, #commumity oriented taste, I think I will stay. Unlike the other place I may actually post occasionally.
