CLondoner92 (New Account)<p>Greater <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Anglia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anglia</span></a> (GA) has been named Operator of the Year at the Spotlight <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Rail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rail</span></a> Awards 2025, marking its third national "operator of the year" title in seven months, following wins at the National Rail Awards and Rail Business Awards. GA has been the UK's most punctual operator since April 2023, with annual performance at 94.2% on the public performance measure (PPM). It has revamped its fleet with new, comfortable trains featuring Wi-Fi, plug points, air conditioning, and improved <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a>. GA also offers additional services, quicker journey times, and direct routes like <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> to <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Stansted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Stansted</span></a>. Norwich Amiga Group<p>Happy birthday to... us! <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Amiga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Amiga</span></a> Group is EIGHT years old today. I fondly recall that Saturday evening at the Coachmakers Arms pub, where three of us met up to discuss all things Amiga and about how great it would be to hold an actual local Amiga event one day.</p><p>I guess with over 1000 Facebook group members and 51 'proper' group meets behind us (not to mention the many other events we've been part of), we've probably ticked that box.</p><p>Roll on Thursday for our 52nd meet, and a celebration of our latest anniversary...</p>

Juggling With Eggs<p>It was a very hot day in June 2021 when we visited the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> Underground Street. </p><p>The ‘street’ is a few of the properties that used to be at street level several hundred years ago in Castle Meadow.</p><p>It’s well worth a visit!</p><p>There are a few undercrofts in the city that are accessible during Heritage Week in September every year (eg. Dragon Hall now the National Writing Centre) or there’s Bedfords and the Bridewell Museum. </p><p>But the Underground Street is the best!</p>
Juggling With Eggs<p>I’ve spent a lot of time looking into <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a>’s huge system of underground tunnels and chalk mines, so I was excited to see their presence: </p><p>‘The underground streets in Marlington are a hugely important part of the book, and these, too, are based on the ones in Norwich. Anyone visiting the city (or anyone living there who hasn’t done so already) should really book a tour of them with Shoebox Experiences. They are an intriguing – and sometimes downright creepy – part of Norwich’s history. ‘</p>
Juggling With Eggs<p>My good friend, Shane Brown writes wonderfully atmospheric ghost and horror stories with historic <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> and mysterious <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norfolk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norfolk</span></a> as their backdrop. </p><p>His best work to date, ‘Welcome to Marlington’ is sadly often ignored in favour of his shorter ghost stories. He refused to name check Norwich in the title, because he didn’t want bad luck to befall our fine city. </p><p>But the real city seeps through</p><p><a href="https://silentmovieblog.wordpress.com/2025/03/19/influences-from-norwich-in-welcome-to-marlington/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">silentmovieblog.wordpress.com/</span><span class="invisible">2025/03/19/influences-from-norwich-in-welcome-to-marlington/</span></a>?</p>
Norwich Amiga Group<p>Wow, it's been a while since I posted here, hasn't it? As always, too many platforms, too much organising to do, and so little time. Sorry folks! Juggling With Eggs<p>Great news for <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> to be hailed as one of the UK’s best <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CarFree" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarFree</span></a> destinations for a break…and I can just imagine the wails of anguish from <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Archant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Archant</span></a>’s Norwich Evening News readership. </p><p>Most stories are now hidden behind a paywall, which only the most ardent of rightwing Boomers can be bothered to subscribe to.</p>

Juggling With Eggs<p>I was about to go my local library in the Forum <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Norwich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwich</span></a> this evening at 5:50pm, but was advised as I approached not to go any further by two police officers in balaclavas, bulletproof vests and automatic assault rifles. I could see at least 4 other officers equally armed in the vicinity. </p><p>I was stunned. I haven’t seen this kind of armed presence since the 7/7 bombings in London. </p><p>As yet I’ve not seen any news reports. Really hope it was a false alarm.</p>
