@AccidentalHaiku Your bot found and boosted my post that used no hashtags, meaning it had to scrape and process text. I also have had #NoIndex and #NoBot in my profile for years now. Does this bot intentionally disregard the filter flags or is this an oversight?
Please correct this to respect the flags some of us use to prevent this kind of data capture.

in my opinion, any account that disseminates official updates about a project has to forfeit all rights to privacy controls and read access limitation
this also means that official project announcements MUST NOT be made from a person's account and that web frontend access MUST be possible and RSS/ATOM STRONGLY SHOULD be available. Following from fedi SHOULD also be possible, with absolutely no limitations if the software makes this possible. Defederation in a way that prevents off topic and otherwise unfitting replies from landing on the instance should be possible in Misskey and forks at least from what I understand. If that's not possible PLEASE provide RSS/ATOM.
Also if you put #nobridge #noindex etc on your official project account or enable similar flags in the account settings wtf are you even doing.

To be clear, the need for #nobot, #noarchive, #noindex, and #nobridge was not born out of some single discrete event. This happened in four separate events. This has been a recurring problem on Fedi at least four times I know of. And I'm sure there's plenty of other bots out there I don't know about that I would have to opt-out of in the same way (if they bothered to let you).
And it should be abundantly clear that there is no respect for GDPR, privacy, boundaries, or anything but a modicum of shame in any of these actions.
Not that it has ever been any different online. Go look up robots.txt. This situation has not ever been any different.

I don't know how to put into words how frustrating this is, but I also know that trying to argue about consent with these people is a gigantic waste of energy.
About me (algo): I follow accounts and hashtags across the fediverse trying to boost awareness of discussion of topics related to Arms Control, Disarmament and Non(-)proliferation.
My algo is less refined than @icymi_law and is fed by a smaller population of active accounts.
Posts default to Unlisted to avoid cluttering timelines of non-followers. I respect the #nobot & #noindex tags (won't reblog if those are in an author's bio).
I will (skipping over minor algorithm details):
1). Read in the last 48 or so hours of toots from people I follow.
2). Boost the toot that has the highest favourite+boost count. Provided that the person doesn't have #nobots or #noindex in their profile, and I haven't recently boosted one of their toots.
3). Chill out for a while.
