In Kdenlive, "zones" refers to a specific regions of a clip that can be used for editing or rendering.

The beginning of a zone is set by pressing the "I" key (in-point), and the end of a zone is set by pressing the "O" key (out-point).

You can also use the "Monitor → Set Zone In" and "Monitor → Set Zone Out" in the menu options.

"Shift-I" inserts the zone into the project bin.

Ideally I want a modal file manager like Yazi [https://github.com/sxyazi/yazi]: it’s keys are highly inspired by vim with H J K L navigation (H & L for traversing directories), a visual mode for selecting files, and lots of commands and customization [https://yazi-rs.github.io/docs/quick-start/]. The one thing its missing is a grid view to preview image files. None of the orthodox file manager seem to have one, including Krusader which I just looked at. Work on the KDE Plasma desktop sounds like it continues to go very well, with some really important bug fixes arriving to make the experience a lot nicer. My favourite Linux desktop environment and what powers the Desktop Mode on Steam Deck.

I would love to see "ephemeral" notifications become a thing, that display a pop-up but don't persist.

Unlike on my phone, I basically never want to "triage" my desktop notifications. When something pops up on my desktop, either I handle it immediately, or I didn't actually want to get it (but manually setting notification rules is annoying).

For example, I would love it if all #KDE Connect notifications disappeared as soon as they timed out. If I need them later, I'll check my phone.
