Shouldn't the #fediverse adopt limits to the amount of #hashtags that can be used per post. I dunno... 10 or so?
I mean, it's fine to have hashtags to aid in discovery, but it can very easily be abused (and is, constantly) by spammers and people who don't know any better.
I don't mind having posts with many hashtags on my timeline, but I do mind to be faced with hastag walls (and little else) on a regular basis.
So... yeah.
And if not the fediverse as a whole, at least #mastodon.

@reiver one of the problems we already have is there are too many social media platforms genealogists use. There are those left behind on FB, BlueSky where there is little real engagement, WikiTree not so much chat, still a few emails groups. Then there is #Mastodon with #hashtags #genealogy #Geneadons @geneadons @genealogy #genchat Do we really need another space - discuss!

Ich - Instanz nrw.social - finde zwar die #Liste, welchen Accounts ich folge, kann mir aber nirgendwo übersichtlich angucken, welchen #Hashtags ich folge? Oder weiß da jemand was, was ich nur zu blind zum Finden bin? Dann wäre ich dankbar für einen kleinen Schubs in die richtige Richtung.

Deinen Take zu (Social-Media-) Algorithmen finde ich etwas zu positiv. Ich meine, das wäre ja ideal, wenn das die Aufgabe wäre, die ein Algorithmus wirklich erfüllt. *seufz*
Der "#Fediverse #Algorithmus" besteht ja eigentlich aus #Hashtags. Ich folge meinen Interessen und bekomme die Posts dann mit. Wobei ich nicht weiss, wie der Hashtag der #BuchBubble (?) ist, aber die zwei von dir genutzten - vermute ich - sind es nicht. #Leseratte #Literatur #Lesen #Books

ich sehe öfters bei pixelfed-posts auf mastodon, die viele hashtags am ende haben und so wie's aussieht diese auch alle in einer zeile und durch leerzeile vom text getrennt, wo trotzdem die tags über dem bild erscheinen, bis auf der allerletzte tag, der gedoppelt zusätzlich noch einmal unter dem bild ist.
ist das ein bug? der sich aus der übertragung zwischen den verschiedenen spielarten des fediverse ergibt?

@seatek the #USA doesn't, you are right, but it's more about the speed of the collapse of a world order that everyone just assumes will be permanent if the time and circumstances are just right and all the other ducks are mostly in a row, kaboom.
Mind you, Trump, with his 19th century playbook in a 21st century world, wants to expand the USA's land empire, so he obviously has zero understanding of the fall of the British Empire, which at its heart (if you temporarily overlook some of the atrocities) was created to make trade easier.
The Roman Empire survived Nero and Caligula and a bunch of other weird short term shit, in the same way that the 20th century USA survived America First and and Mccarthy - Because they all happened at a time when any potential replacements were disorganised at best, or more like non existent in reality.

@rooftopjaxx the bases of #hashtags is social, groups need to use share tags to build stories, when everyone pushes their #stupidindividualism then it's just mess to compost. This is sadly normal and something I talk about a lot.

@sarahjamielewis The best I have used, though not particularly great for teams has the following attributes of a Kanban Board on GitHub called taskell and the way I used it was in the shell:
- Task Columns (task states), with limits:
- Backlog (new unstarted tasks)
- On Hold (started tasks, waiting for something)
- Doing (limit 1 task, the task you're currently working on)
- Send Email (Emails that need to be sent related to a task)
- Await Email (Emails awaiting a response, best used with a due date to know when to follow up after too much time has elapsed)
- ToRead (Things that need to be learned)
- SME (limit 1 task sent to SME if SME is overwhelmed as they always are)
- Done (Completed Tasks)
- Task Definition:
- Title
- Crosscutting Concerns (i.e. #hashtags used to group systems, vendors, assigned, operating system, patch, commit, team, whatever, this allows you to search for all tasks related to all of those things together)
- URL of Project wiki entrie(s) or knowledge base
- Due Date (optional)
- Internal Description
- Internal Todo List with rearrangeable order.
I helped open two casinos that way; hopefully you can find a better use for it.
Perusing "Explore" can be such a drag. I used to love it, but I don't need the doomscholling. I wish people would use #HashTags so my filters would work.
