Sigh; myriad is not a collective noun. Tis an adjective. A synonym is innumerable, another is multiple... there's even the old dependable many. Ergo, this is nonsensical:

they were defeated for a myriad of reasons

Why, PK, did you not simply write

they were defeated for myriad reasons

Hmmmm?

Any #grammar folk here?

Bearing in mind I am British English, -- and this is my frame of reference for my question -- what's with the following construct?

"How Does This Even Work?"

It's the word "even" here which I find superfluous and odd. Had it been me, I would have said:

"How Does This Work?"

"Even" is unnecessary, adds nothing, and seems superfluous.

Can anyone explain even why to me, how or why, even, etc, why or even how we even have this? ;)

In libreoffice, I replaced an auto correct entry to always replace a regular dash with the M Dash –. But now I’m being told that one should be used for very rare situations when it comes to dialogue. Any grammar experts know which one I should keep and which one I should get rid of? #Grammar

People often point out various grammatical errors in texts people write. As if having better attention to words makes the argument presented more or less valid. So I suppose I'm gonna rant about this.
