🚨 Multi-Master PostgreSQL gotchas: INSERT/INSERT conflicts can silently lose data, UPDATE/UPDATE overwrites entire tuples (not just changed columns), and 3-node clusters risk permanent divergence.

New blog post from Shaun Thomas dives deep into CRDTs (Conflict Resistant Data Types 😉), sequence safety, and conflict resolution strategies 👇

Understanding Eventsourcing: Planning and Implementing scalable Systems with Eventmodeling and Eventsourcing leanpub.com/eventmodeling-and- by Martin Dilger is the featured book on the Leanpub homepage! leanpub.com #SoftwareEngineering #EventDrivenArchitecture #SoftwareArchitecture #Software #DistributedSystems #books #ebooks

The first book to combine Eventmodeling & Eventsourcing to plan software systems of any size and complexity.

Find it on Leanpub!

LeanpubUnderstanding EventsourcingThis book gives a detailed introduction to Eventsourcing and how to apply it in real world scenarios with a focus on implementation.

Hi y'all, this has become a bit more important now. I learned this week that my current contract will not be renewed for funding reasons. Please see the quoted post for more info! :boost:

Hi there!

New account, new #introduction!

I'm Adrian, a french #dev, interested by everything #Elixir, #DevOps and #DistributedSystems

The past few months I've worked a bit on platform engineering for my current company, but before that I've developed a tool to send USSD messages with a Raspberry PI through an API, #Livebook or gRPC call using Elixir magic :D

I'm here to keep exchanging about #tech, keep learning and maybe teaching stuff!

I've also began a blog, but I have yet to write more posts :)

On the personal projects side, I have a few ideas but I've not started yet!

I will (try to) write in English here, but you may see me answer in French from time to time though!

Hi all,

I just moved over to this server, so I figured I should make an #introduction!

I'm starting as an assistant professor of CS at UW-Madison in Fall '23 after I finish my post-doc at UMD.

I (mostly) work at the intersection of #Security and #ProgrammingLanguages, but I like to dip my toes into #DistributedSystems and #AppliedCryptography now and again.

I've historically mostly lurked (both here and on the bird site pre-exodus), but I want to be more active.

Thought I'd post an (academic) #introduction. :D I am an Assistant Professor at the University of #Groningen, with current research focus on #largscale #networkanalysis (#networkscience) working within the #InformationSystems Group; I previously worked on #humancomputation (don't like the term), #socialcomputing, #distributedsystems at #tuwien. Interested in socio-tech. issues, including #ethics #privacy, tech #policy

#introductionPost

I am a software engineer, currently juggling (and failing) to balance time between teaching #softwareArchitecture and #softwareTesting to 3-4th year undergraduate students, researching on #automatedTesting and #distributedSystems on the #BEAM (#Erlang, #Elixir), exploring #SocialMedia media from a #feminist and #multidisciplinary perspective, and advocating for #Floss in the context of scientific research and #OpenScience.

Oh, and the so-called personal life, of course!! 😅
