With the new revision of my Quazar Surround soundcard out for the SAM Coupe (first released back in 1995!) here's a video of one of the included demos - Rainforest.

Using the full surround outputs this places you in the middle of a rainforest with weather and a variety of creatures hopping around you. (The video is just stereo, rather than surround!). Over the years 1995-2004 I produced 76 issues of 'Soundbyte' diskzine with software specifically for the Quazar Surround - making it one of the most supported pieces of #SAMCoupe hardware.

Quazar Surround bundles with intro software on either floppy disks, or SD card for Trinity:

Thank you for the beautiful report by @canmom, about #mountainbytes2025 as well as one describing a newcomer's view and motivations getting into the #demoscene!
This account really touches us, as being a place for of tinkerers, (tech) wizards and adventurers from all walks of life and skill levels was always our dream for the party! ❤️

bryn::writing · MountainBytes 2025What it was like going to my very first demoparty…

It occurred to me that since Buxton Bytes, I've not really said much about what I'm up to as far as #demo stuff goes. Soooooo....

I have a screen in progress, which is more like a bunch of effects all in one screen. Yet again, it's all done in #STOS, but using my newly coded FrankenSTOS extension to produce some nice stuff that (so far) is all running at 50fps as it should!

Three or four months of learning how to code 68K assembly has obviously paid off! 🙃

Was considering releasing it for Nova in June, but not entirely sure I'll complete it for then. It'll be released when I'm fully happy with it, whenever that is!

Thirty years ago to do the day (29th April 1995) I unveiled my "Quazar Surround" soundcard for the SAM Coupe computer at the Gloucester SAM & Spectrum show. This was my first hardware release for the SAM, with the soundcard adding multichannel digital sound, with surround sound outputs. A stereo sampler module followed, and oh so much vital software support!

Now, with initial pre-orders almost fully shipped out, orders are fully open for the latest edition of this fantastic sonic interface! So grab yourself a new Quazar Surround soundcard bundle at:

(Two options available - with introductory software on either floppy disks or a SD card if you've the Trinity Ethernet Interface for mass storage on your SAM.)

Curious to hear what it can do - there's a few tracks on the audio CD with issue 11 of SAM Revival magazine - see the quick shop link above to grab that issue!
