A small but simple act of #Resistance was a man I met yesterday. I had to go to downtown #Chicago to get my #RealID , and he was working at the #DMV there.
He was a tall, burly Hispanic man, and he was wearing a T-shirt that read on the back of it, "I will die before I let you deport me to El Salvador-- and if I do die, I'm taking some ICE agents with me."
I see you, DMV worker. And I hear you loud and clear. 
(People are not allowed to take pictures inside the building, so I couldn't get a photo of it.)
DMV achievement unlocked, btw. Have CA plates on my car and a temporary CA license.
Turns out I DID have to take the "written" test... I did get one question wrong and skipped one, but I (obviously) passed. 
They were very nice and I highly recommend the Petaluma DMV location. In and out in 45 minutes.

California peeps, I'm confused:
So I drove my car in from out of state and I'm about to go get it registered. But do I get a smog inspection first, or can I do that after registration?
The DMV web site is not quite clear on this.

Here are some things I'm seeing from local Wash. DC TikTok accounts:
Check points where they are handing out $100 tickets for very small infractions, ie, no dock for your cell phone, seat belt unbuckled.
Citizens closed down a checkpoint last night when the neighborhood gathered, surrounding the agents in the intersection.
People of color filming while they walk just to be safe.
Currently, there is a large protest happening at the WH. Not sure the numbers.
Yesterday, the five
Northern Virginia school districts heroically stood up to the harmful and hateful measures coming from the current administration, and in regards to Title IX and the treatment of it students, including those who are trasngender.
And, of course, the current administration has begun the process of cutting funding to these schools, as promised.
Hopefully these schools will soon provide information in regards to how the public can contribute funds to aid the schools, helping them -- among other things -- provide free breakfasts to so many that depend upon them (a great many, in my daughter's Alexandria City High School, I can attest).
Here's a glimpse of "the future" I must say I did not expect -- the public asking to help fund schools directly so that their students don't go hungry because of draconian moves of oppression by the U.S. Government.
Is this part of the "GREAT" that the MAGA deplorables have been so eager to see realized? That, presumably, most of the U.S. is giddy to see?
