#Sculpture illustrating the technical aspects of raising an obelisk, probably the Vatican obelisk. Originally brought to #Rome from Egypt in ancient times, it was moved by Domenico Fontana in 1586. This relocation was considered a remarkable feat, as evidenced by the sculpture depicted, similar in spirit to the commemorative postcards celebrating newly constructed railway bridges in the 1800s. #history #civilengineering

My friend @Dicksondavid in #PortHarcourt #Nigeria is #LookingForWork - he has worked before in #foodservice and has skills as a #barber and interest in #CivilEngineering / #construction

If anyone from the area knows of opportunities (including assistance for interview travel expenses) and/or can advise how a young man in this can get genuine work (he has had previous issues with unpaid wages and paying for travel only to find there are 0 vacancies) it will be much appreciated..

Perhaps this uncle should have been less stubborn and accepted the offer of rehousing? Now he has the whole entire motorway built around him with 120 km/h live traffic either side, and can't even join it easily if he drives (the transport authority did build him safety/soundproofing walls, but it seems he didn't get his own private slip road, which would have at least made things slightly more tolerable) #China #Motorway #Transport #CivilEngineering
