Современные высоконагруженные системы требуют гибкого масштабирования и отказоустойчивости для обеспечения стабильной производительности в условиях постоянно растущих объёмов данных. Когда речь идёт о PostgreSQL, развёрнутом в Kubernetes, перед инженерами встают особые вопросы: как упорядочить реплики для отказоустойчивости, каким образом настроить бэкапы и мониторинг, а главное — как корректно масштабироваться в облачной среде. Vergangene Tage habe ich mal getestet, welche Backup-Strategien es für Friendica-Posts gibt. Zum einen kann man das Friendica-Addon "WordPress Post Connector" nutzen, aber ich wollte dafür nicht extra einen WordPress-Blog ins Internet stellen, sondern die Beiträge bei mir im heimischen, lokalen Netzwerk sichern.
Also habe ich ein wenig herumexperimentiert und das ist dabei herausgekommen:

Originally, the data was on a 6TB HDD in my PC with the backup being on a 4TB external drive (I'd only plug it in for the backup).
I wanted to move the 6TB from my PC to a NAS so that I'd have access even if the PC was off. I copied everything over that wasn't already and proceeded to format the 6TB drive. When I went to migrate the data to the NAS I was met with an `Input/Output` error.
From reading the logs, it is either bad sectors or an issue with the USB connection to the drive. Unfortunately, Western Digital has made this drive so it has no SATA connections for me to connect it internally for more testing.

The result of not having a proper backup strategy in place. I'm currently trying to save my only backup (about 3.5TB) of my video projects over the last 2-3 years.

Well folks, it finally happened. I forgot my phone’s passcode.
For the first time in decades, I can’t remember my passcode. Years of muscle memory finally desynchronized from its numeric representation, and I can’t tap the correct numbers. I SWORE it’s one sequence, but my phone says it isn’t.
It’s no big deal; I have a recent backup, and an erase/restore allows me to enter a new passcode (which I swore was the same as my old one), and I got my data back. But I never thought this would happen to me.
I guess the lesson here is to keep a #backup?

Unsere #Instanz wächst und wächst. Kürzlich hatten wir unser zwei-jähriges Jubiläum. Wir haben aktuell 210 trötende #Rüssel hier auf unserer Instanz und das bedeutet, dass unsere Instanz mit eine der erfolgreichen Instanzen im #deutsch sprachigen Raum geworden ist.
Das bedeutet aber auch, dass der Instanz #Server einiges zu leisten hat. Er muss performant bleiben und er muss groß genug sein, um die ganzen #Tröts mit ihren #Medien wie #Bilder und #Videos zu speichern. Auch der #Backup-Server muss entsprechend dimensioniert sein. Das alles kostet viel #Geld im #Monat, das ich vollständig aus der eigenen #Tasche bezahle.
Wenn es Dir hier bei uns also gefällt und Du nicht möchtest, dass diese Instanz irgendwann in der Versenkung verschwindet, wie so viele andere kleine und große Instanzen auch, dann denke doch einmal drüber nach, ob Du mich dabei nicht ein kleines bisschen #unterstützen möchtest.

Wie groß sollte die externe SSD sein für ein Mac Mini mit 1TB auf der nur das Backup wöchentlich aufgespielt wird. Info: Ich brauch kein Backup vom letzten Jahr 
Gleich die zweite Frage: Kann man statt einer SSD auch eine Micro SD-Karte nutzen?

Not included are steps like "install #ubuntu on OldLaptop", "#ungoogle Fairphone" etc. but OK.

I just realized that Ionos' HiDrive has an option for rsync!
I've never checked whether a European provider would offer rsync filesystem access for Linux systems, but now, with Trump at the helm, it has become an urgent issue.
